Altair Inspire Extrude (ex Click2Extrude) Metal and Polymer are simulation based environments designed to help metal and polymer extrusion companies meet the ever increasing demands to produce complex profiles with tight tolerances, quality surface finishes and high strength properties at reduced cost. Altair Inspire Extrude Metal and Polymer are virtual presses where users can visualize material flow and temperature inside a die during extrusion and make necessary changes to ensure balanced flow, while identifying and eliminating product defects.

All extrusion companies aim to eliminate costly prototyping and shorten redesign cycles. Today, advanced physics-based simulation technology is accessible to organizations of all sizes. Inspire Extrude Metal is easy to master, enabling every engineer or designer to gain better insights through simulation into how the characteristics of any specific metal alloy interact with process variables. This tool helps reduce product development costs, improve extrusion quality, and enhance productivity and customer satisfaction, thereby boosting your team’s efficiency.

By detecting potential defects before manufacturing the die, it supports better design decisions. With Inspire Extrude Metal, even highly complex profiles can be validated for production feasibility. Using geometry creation and simplification tools, CAD models can be quickly simplified and modified within the platform, ensuring that potential issues—such as profile distortion, damage from deformation, back-end defects, transverse weld defects, poor seam welding, coarse grain size, overheating, profile quality issues, and poor surface quality—are addressed early in the development phase.

Users can reduce scrap rates by exploring process improvement methods on a virtual extruder. Through simulation, you can look inside the production line and fine-tune process variables to minimize both visible and invisible defects. Inspire Extrude Metal offers the following capabilities: rapidly analyze extrusion die performance, understand profile deformation, visualize component temperatures, model the elastic and elastoplastic properties of tool components, correct molds through automatic bearing surface optimization, and predict quenching rates.
