The release emphasizes the continuous strengthening of compatibility and synchronization between V5 and V6, as well as the enrichment of V5 solutions with select V6 technology.

CATIA users benefit from more than 80 enhanced capabilities, delivering new functionality in key areas to drive productivity and interoperability including enhancements in Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Class A, Imagine and Shape, Composites, 3DMaster, and a new Product "Composites Laser Projection". Many of these enhancements are delivered to support coexistence between V5-6R2016 and 3DEXPERIENCE R2016x.

ENOVIA Introduces a new Web based user interface in ENOVIAvpm 1.9 - ENOVIAvpm Web Access , continuing the transition away from 3DCOM to a more modern user experience, in addition to other performance usability and security enhancements
