FEKO is a full-wave general-purpose electromagnetic analysis software based on the method of moments. FEKO implements comprehensive algorithms and supports the analysis of thin dielectric sheets, multi-dielectric bodies and planar layered media, and the hybrid MoM/FEM solving method is very suitable for dealing with complex media.
In addition, FEKO has the corresponding modules and capabilities for parameter optimization, time domain analysis, adaptive frequency interpolation, and analysis of complex cables in a three-dimensional environment.
The method of moments has been greatly expanded in 2004 for solving electrically large and even ultra-electrically large problems, with the first commercialization of the Multi-Layer Fast Multipole Algorithm (MLFMM) code, while the method of moments can be hybridized with other high-frequency approximations, such as with Physical Optics (PO), Geometrical Optics (GO), and Uniformly Universal Theory of Disturbance (UTD). This true hybrid solving technique greatly reduces the need for computational resources and expands the ability to solve electrically large size problems.
Parallel solving techniques and other techniques such as advanced adaptive frequency interpolation (fast computation of broadband response), efficient out-of-core solvers for large-scale problems, multi-layer planar Green's functions (simulating real ground or dielectric layers), periodic boundary conditions (PBC), simulation of non-radiating networks, cable coupling analysis, and built-in optimization analysis with multiple optimization algorithms (e.g., mesh search, Genetic Algorithm, Particle Beam Algorithm) FEKO can be used to accelerate the optimization of electromagnetic simulation problems.
FEKO has a professional and efficient graphical user interface, as well as different mesh import interfaces (e.g. AUTOCAD DXF, NASTRAN, PATRAN) and CAD model import/export interfaces (e.g. STEP, IGES, ACIS Exchange (SAT), CATIA V4 and V5 formats), which are highly compatible with third-party software. The open input/output interface greatly facilitates secondary development for specialized applications.
