IMOLD for SolidWorks is the most powerful mold design product in the SolidWorks environment, allowing mold designers to quickly design products and preview them at any time. Using its automatic tools or interactive tools, such as automatic separation line generation tool, internal/cavity surface segmentation tool and edge core development tool, IMOLD provides features that cannot be compared with other mold design systems.

SolidWorks software can open different types of CAD files, and regardless of the intermediate file format you receive, SolidWorks software gives you access to the geometry in it. Because data errors can occur when importing geometry from other design systems, SolidWorks software provides a full set of tools to repair imported files and clean up geometry.SolidWorks software also provides diagnostic tools to help you join solids together. With MoldflowXpress, you can estimate whether you can make an acceptable mold based on the original 3D solid mold of a plastic injection molded part. You can even evaluate moldability based on geometry, injection location, material type, and processing conditions. This information makes it easy for you to determine the number of gate channels, as well as the number of cross gates and cooling systems required. You can use SolidWorks Undercut Inspection to identify areas of the part that require some incidental action to remove the part from the mold.SolidWorks software also includes Thickness Checking, which allows you to detect areas of the part that do not reach a specified thickness. If insufficient thickness is not corrected, problems may occur during manufacturing.


You can apply a cooling shrinkage factor based on the material of the part. You can also automatically suggest optimal parting lines based on the direction of draft in the part, and identify all areas of the part that are not adequately drafted; you can also adjust the angle of the draft surface relative to any adjacent edges. The software also offers a range of solid modeling and surfacing tools that make it easy to create parting surfaces for even the most complex molds. Once the parting surfaces have been created, the mold can be split into two solids using the "Cut Split" command. These solids can then be used to create assemblies associated with the original multi-solid part design.The SolidWorks Design Library provides a platform for developing company-standard feature, part, and assembly models that you can drag and drop into new model designs.


SolidWorks provides tools that make it very easy to generate all the core and cavity geometry needed for machining from a part design.


SolidWorks software makes it easy to generate production-grade 2D drawings from 3D assembly models. You can draw a sectional view of an assembly and automatically generate engineering drawings by simply drawing a line in SolidWorks. You can add or change dimensions at any time, and the dimensions are instantly updated to conform to design changes. You can quickly create exploded views that describe how the mold works: arrange the parts in the 3D environment, then select the section to define a 2D partial engineering view. Alternatively, these views can be easily annotated by typing the part serial number into the bill of materials.
