Mastertrim Seat Engineering Complexity

Mastertrim transforms your 3D CAD system into a seating upholstery engineering environment, capturing a complete digital representation of your upholstered product. Line Seam Formation and Manipulation

Generating geometric seams can be tedious and requires advanced CAD system design skills. Mastertrim 14 introduces two new utilities that make it easy to form and manipulate the geometry required to define seams directly within the Mastertrim environment. With the point-and-click interface, the user can easily control the position of the seam. Support for patented technology ensures good connectivity of all seam details, including symmetry and modelling features that allow the user to create optimal seat upholstery designs.

Rule-based V-notch generation

There is no standard set of rules for placing v-notches on a spread pattern; in fact, most companies define their own rules to ensure an efficient manufacturing process. Now, with Mastertrim 14, users can define v-notches according to a set of predefined rules. For example, V-notches can be automatically placed at the intersection of each seam (or a selected number of seams), or castle V-notches can be placed at the beginning and end of attachments sewn to the pattern. Users are also alerted if a design change requires an update to the v-notch placement, and automatic updates can be initiated if needed. By providing rule-based v-notch generation, users can ensure data consistency in accordance with timelines that are important to the company's design standards and minimise duplication of effort.

Documentation Enhancements

Mastertrim 14 offers two new documentation features to improve the communication of design intent, namely cross-section generation and labelling of manufacturing processes. Using a customised image database for seam types and attachments, a cross-section (or multiple cross-section) can be generated to show the correct image at that location in the 3D design. The cross sections are linked directly to the master model, so when a design change occurs, the user is alerted to the out-of-date cross section, which is then automatically updated. In addition, Mastertrim 14 offers new functionality for placing and labelling manufacturing processes on the layout of spread drawings. Part files, which are essential for ensuring design accuracy, provide the flexibility to display and mark the required manufacturing processes, and include sewing reports that allow users to provide the required details directly on the engineering drawings to ensure optimum manufacturing.

Teamcenter Integration

Teamcenter is the leading Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, enabling organisations to bring increasingly complex products to market while maximising productivity and simplifying global operations. Mastertrim 14 has been tightly integrated with Teamcenter and on top of this, it offers additional functionality to export generated 3D drawings directly into Teamcenter, whilst keeping the programme data structure intact. This unrivalled functionality can be flexibly adapted to any process in the organisation - created in Mastertrim and managed in Teamcenter.
