Metacomp CFD++ is based on unified grid, unified physics and unified computing methodology in an advanced numerical discretization and solution framework. CFD++ is based on a multi-dimensional TVD polynomial reconstruction with up to fourth order accuracy in time in explicit mode and second order accuracy in time in implicit mode. CFD++ is based on finite-volume framework with fast convergence to steady state and fast computation of unsteady flows, with enhanced speed using dual time stepping. CFD++ application capabilities include the following:

- High speed reacting/non-reacting flows
- Low speed reacting/non-reacting
- Incompressible flows
- Conjugate heat transfer
- Multiphase flows
- Sliding and overset meshes for flow around and within bodies in relative motion
- 6-DOF Applications (Highly accurate 6-DOF module, providing trajectory analysis of bodies in flight. Used in applications such as; unsteady response to control surface actuation, safety of store separation from aircraft. The tightly coupled rigid-body and fluid dynamics produces accurate transient response)

CFD++ can run very small scale to very large-scale problems very effectively, using the appropriate hierarchy of computer hardware platforms and interconnects (from laptops to massively parallel computers)
