Pirana isapharmacological(PMX)workbenchsolutionthatcoordinatestheuseofmultipletools

Pirana is a pharmacological (PMX) workbench solution that coordinates the use of multiple tools to enhance the efficiency, organization, and quality of PMX workflows.

v2025.7 introduces several new features, representing significant advancements in both practical and cutting-edge innovations:

NLME engine enhancements that reduce model runtimes by 30-60% on average, with even greater gains for specific problems.

A new user interface for configuring and executing automated machine learning model searches using our rapid NLME engine and PML model language.

Support for multi-objective optimization (MOO) in machine learning searches—optimizing models for multiple objectives and delivering a set of models capturing trade-offs between competing goals.

A built-in interface for Integral, enabling seamless bidirectional file transfer between Pirana and Integral.

Enhanced virtual bioequivalence analysis capabilities, further expanding the utility of the Pirana-Simcyp VBE module.

And much more!

Pirana allows pharmacologists to operate at a "middle ground" between a full GUI (Phoenix) and a full command-line (RsNLME) interface. This provides access to the flexibility of command-line tools while leveraging Pirana’s built-in workflow organization features. Key steps (e.g., model building, post-processing) via R Shiny apps enable users to accomplish tasks while simultaneously generating corresponding command-line R code—greatly assisting those learning R and needing tailored examples for their specific problems.

Pirana is a flexible and extensible modeling and simulation workbench that provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for tools such as NONMEM, PsN, and Xpose/R. It streamlines the management of quantitative pharmacology workflows by offering intuitive control over modeling processes.

Population pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (Pop PK/PD) is a powerful tool widely used in the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory agencies to analyze drug safety and efficacy, and has become a standard for regulatory submissions. Pirana revolutionizes the traditionally inefficient and time-consuming process of organizing quantitative pharmacology models by providing a structured solution. It enables modelers to iteratively develop and execute population PK/PD models with ease and efficiency, thereby improving the presentation of analysis processes and results.

Pirana offers critical features that ensure traceability and reproducibility of modeling results, including an extensive structural model library, analytical tools, and graphing capabilities:
• Template and wizard functions for rapid model setup
• An R-based code library for generating goodness-of-fit plots
• Model conversion tools for interoperability
• Built-in version control and audit trails
• Seamless integration with open-source tools and population PK/PD modeling utilities, enabling efficient visual predictive checks (VPC), covariate modeling, and bootstrapping
