DIGIMATisastate-of-the-artnonlinearmulti-scalematerial&structuremodelingplatform,whic

DIGIMAT is a state-of-the-art nonlinear multi-scale material & structure modeling platform, which helps engineers to design and optimize composite materials in a fast and cost effective way. From small scale nanocomposites via honeycomb sandwich panels up to fiber reinforced plastics, rubber and hard metals, DIGIMAT software covers a large variety of materials being used in automotive, aerospace, consumer and industrial equipment industries. With its six different tools which can be licensed separately, the DIGIMAT modeling platform also offers a high degree of modularity.

Release highlights:

- Improved accuracy
Accuracy of reinforced plastics modeling is improved for both non-linear stiffness and failure. The Hybrid solution has been revised so that its non-linear response matches closely the reference Micro solution. Failure controls for multi-layer RVE have been added to improve the accuracy of identified failure models for reinforced plastics.
- Ease of use and efficiency
Usage of Digimat has been made easier and more efficient. Material model calibration workflow is now purely linear thanks to full control on microstructure definition in Digimat-MX. Hybrid parameters generation is fully automated, requiring no user input. Memory consumption has been reduced for coupled analysis involving the Hybrid solution with implicit FEA solvers. Loading of large FEA input deck files in Digimat is now easier thanks to the support of include commands.
- Efficient material engineering tools
Carpet plots of laminate properties as a function of ply orientation percentage can be generated in Digimat-MF or Digimat-VA, to provide guidelines on effect of stacking on composite performance. Failure envelopes of any type of composite can be created in Digimat-MF to understand the prediction of material failure for various biaxial loadings.

Removing the boundaries between injection molding and performance analysis of Reinforced Plastics with Digimat-RP/Moldex3D

Early design of reinforced plastic parts has classically faced many difficulties: process information such as fiber orientation might not be available yet, many iterations of design are required in a very short cycle time, material behavior is hardly accessible. These challenges add up to the common difficulty of designing plastic parts with metal based design tools, considering homogeneous isotropic material behavior.

Digimat-RP/Moldex 3D helps to overcome these challenges to accelerate early design of plastic parts and provides a quick and easy access to fiber orientation to structural engineers.

The fiber orientation estimator inside Digimat-RP/Moldex3D is based on fully integrated Moldex3D technology for meshing, flow simulation and fiber orientation computation. User guidance and productivity is assured for structural engineers, thanks to minimal required input, fully automatic meshing and solving, and strict focus on fiber orientation computation.

Digimat-RP/Moldex3D brings efficiency of predictive plastic part structural analysis to a whole new level. Multiple process or design iterations can now be achieved within a single day of work.

Extended support of FEA interfaces

Support of FEA interfaces is extended, focusing on:
- Ansys 16.0 solver (Windows/Linux), which comes along with the user-friendly ACT plug-in for Workbench
- LS-Dyna 7.1.2 (Windows/Linux)
